News From the Field

I wanted to give you a little update and let you know that the pre-campaign conference went very well. We were really favored by Father in that He allowed us to make it here given all the stuff that was happening yesterday morning -- the storms, bad traffic and all the American Airlines cancellations had no effect on our arrival here in Cali last night. We praise God that He heard our prayers and went before us.

April 11--Cali, Colombia

We are very excited about the arrival of the North American team tomorrow here in Cali. Six Firewheel Church members (Sam and Vicki Ingrassia, Jon and Linda Cody, Lisa Valenzuela, and Jerry Zucha) will be part of the 34 people from several areas of the United States that will work in 18 different mission sites for this evangelism and church planting emphasis.

Sam Ingrassia and Jerry Zucha made the trip a couple of days ahead of the rest in order to conduct a Pre-Campaign Seminar that focused on discipleship and encouraged the national pastors and church leaders concerning post-evangelism follow up. Sam and Jerry were very encouraged by the participation and response of those who attended the seminar. More than 120 took part in the training that included sessions taught by German Taquez (e3 Colombia Director), Sam, and Jerry. The Colombian nationals are very excited about the great harvest that will be reaped in and around Cali and the discipleship which will be shared with those who receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

Tomorrow will be a day of preparation as the other team members begin to arrive at different times throughout the day. On Sunday the team will worship with the mother churches and later in the day will have preparation time together which will enable them to hit the ground running for the next days of evangelism and discipleship. Pastor Jerry is looking forward to preaching in a Cali church and having other members of his team share testimonies to encourage and ignite a spirit of anticipation for the week's work.

Thank you for praying for this important mission in Cali, Colombia. Please pray that many, many people will be reached with the Gospel and the 18 new church sites will have a strong foundation for the future.

Talk to you soon,

Jerry

April 13--Cali, Colombia

From Sam and Vicki in Cali with our team!

On Sunday morning our 6 teams of North Americans were sent out to Worship Services to 6 of the host 'mother churches' for the e3 Campaign! This evening we held our Training Meeting (see photo) - which is the first time all the Colombians and North Americans are brought together!! It was a very exciting meeting!

There were approx 175 in the meeting - 31 of which were the N.American e3 team members! Wow, that is almost a 6 to 1 mobilization factor - very high! This continues to demonstrate the kind of enthusiasm and involvement of the churches here is Cali, just as we sensed at the Friday training time on Discipleship.

Monday morning our 6 teams will be deployed along with additional teams made up of Colombians only - so 8 teams in 8 areas for Monday and Tuesday. Then for Wednesday and Thursday, all teams will switch to new sites! Thus we will have gospel impact, by the grace of God, on 16 communities this week!

Praise God!

At the outset, we faced a terribly unusual and in fact tragic turn of events. One of our campaigns, Maurice Trimble, from Indiana, was to join us this week - he was to arrive in Cali with the e3 team this past Saturday. However, the Lord had other plans for Maurice, and during Friday night, he passed away and into the presence of the Lord! His brother, Mike Trimble, a dear personal friend and and e3 participant on many levels, was also to be here. Obviously, Mike will be with his extended family in the wake of Maurice's death. Please pray for the whole Trimble family - for the grace and peace of God to come around them in a special way!

Can you imagine - what a way to go - with your luggage fully packed, your passport in hand and your heart ready to go 'on mission' to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and start new churches - and the Lord chooses to call you instead on to your heavenly home!

Appreciate deeply your prayers for this week's activities.

For His Advancing Kingdom,

Sam and Vicki Ingrassia

PS Vicki arrived with a sore throat and it has only worsened so far - she has been in bed quite ill, all day Sunday.

Please pray the Lord will raise her up soon!
